Rotary District 5650
Southeast Nebraska and Southwest Iowa District 5650 is part of two states, Iowa and Nebraska. We are bordered on the east by District 6000, on the south by 5670 and 5710, on the west by 5630 and on the north by 5610.

District 5650 is comprised of parts of two
states. The district is geographically
agricultural based with a vast array of supporting industry along with two
large cities. Omaha is the largest city with about 1 million people is a major
business and defense hub. Five of the
fortune 500 companies are based there and is home to Warren Buffet, the second
wealthiest man in the world. It also is
home to internationally famous Creighton University and two medical schools and
the top rated liver transplant facility. Omaha is also the headquarters for
Union Pacific Railroad, the largest railroad to date in the world. The zoo in Omaha has been ranked the number
one family tourist attraction in the United States. Omaha is the permanent home
of College world Series baseball and has
hosted the US Olympic swim team trials.
Lincoln is the Nebraska State capital and therefore is the major government center. Lincoln also is the main campus of the University of Nebraska which strives for academic and athletic excellence, as they have won several national championships in several sports. Both communities are rich in history, visual and performing arts with facilities that attract internationally famous artists.
Most of the forty-five clubs in the district
are located in smaller towns of less than ten thousand population. Each of the towns are hubs to local farmers
who maintain crops for food or meat production and processing The clubs are in important part of their
communities as they .
The district is involved in several water /
sanitation projects, including a major water project in Zambia, Africa, while
many of the clubs have a variety of international projects on all the areas of focus
in countries of Haiti, Nigeria, Niagara, Zambia, Mali, Uganda, Chad.
Many of our members have traveled to international project sites, and have participated in NID in India, Bangladesh, and Africa.
District 5650 has had many GSE teams from
several countries, including Australia (2008), Venezuela (2007), Russia,
Georgia, Mozambique, India, Brazil (2010), Argentina, Uruguay, Pakistan (2010,
inbound only), Taiwan (2009), Uruguay, Sweden, Germany and France.
